This year marks the 11th anniversary of Assassins, the triumphant 1995 revival of the Stephen Sondheim/John Weidman musical. As a grateful nation celebrates with endless ticker-tape parades and city-wide sings-along, Adam Pictures honors this milestone with our ongoing series Assassins: An American Institution. Entirely student-produced, Assassins ran only two nights, May 4 & 5, but the production's challenging, ferocious sense of patriotism can still be felt today. Beginning with The Cast, The Crew, the Art it Inspired and the ceaseless controversy that surrounded the show, from the guns to the behind-the-scenes battles, we look at what catapulted this production from insurrection to institution. |
